THE COMPANY:
Graphic designer Geoff Weiser and former retail buyer, Suji Meswani, are the co-owners of Skeem Candles. Prior to launching the Skeem brand in 2004, this Philadelphia based husband and wife team, did more than a year of research and development to perfect the wax formulation, develop the scents and colors and, of course, create the candles themselves. The name "Skeem"? Well, it is a play on words and the company is named after the couple's "scheme" to break free from the corporate world. The rich, colorful designs and unique long-lasting scents are inspired by their vast travels which include three to four annual trips to exotic locales such as, India, Costa Rica, and Thailand.
OUR PHILOSOPHY:
We've never understood the plain-ivory-candle-in-the-fancy-box thing. Isn't it a bit of a let down when you open it up, and the box, which is the nicest part, is just trash? We've thoughtfully designed all our products so they are beautiful and intriguing on their own, without any excess packaging. Our candles are silk-screened, then poured with our custom soy/paraffin wax blend to ensure a clean, even burn. Once the wax has burned down, our pillars are reusable as drinking glasses. We also encourage you to reuse our 3-wick and Half Pint containers for things like holding cotton balls, storing paper clips, or even as a sugar jar. In addition to making beautiful, long-lasting products, we're proud to manufacture candles that can be reused and recycled. It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
OUR CANDLES:
Our candles are are made in the USA. The glasses are silk-screened, and each candle is topped with a printed metal lid. Our wax is a soy blend and our wicks are cotton.

Sweet Balsam smells of fresh cut evergreens mixed with spring bulbs.
Our Filigree collection combines delicate and elaborate layers of ornamentation to create this modern-romantic collection. Usually seen on jewelry made with fine-spun, twisted wire, Filigree refers to the lace-like appearance of this intricate art. We have used flourishes, arabesques, cartouches, scrolls, and ornaments to weave a lace pattern that is thoroughly modern in feeling.

Sea spray evokes the crisp, fresh scent of salty sea air captured in the eaves of an old, cedar-clapboard cottage.
Just as birds gather bits and pieces to build their nests, we used our collection of old documents, postcards, and stamps to create these collages of sweet, silhouetted bird images.

Oceanic Dune Sage Brand New
Dune Sage, an herbal woodsy mix combining moss, sage and three types of beach pine.
Our Oceanic Collection was inspired by the 19th Century sea explorers who provided some of our first views of deep-ocean marine life. In their travels they discovered thousands of new species and documented them all in beautiful, detailed illustrations. Octopi, seahorses and thousands of new species of fish are just some of the unusual creatures they came into contact with.

Anise and Clove is filled with the warm scent of mulled spices and finishes with the sharp, dark note of licorice-like anise.
We love the look of 19th century hand-tinted postcards. Before color photography, artists would enhance the look of a monochromatic image by hand coloring certain details with oils, pastels or watercolors. These tiny keepsakes become more beautiful as they age and fade. We are inspired by a series of these hand-tinted floral images and recreated the soft look and vintage colors in our Photofloral collection.
